Curriculum & Community
Workshops
The venture co-op curriculum consists of various workshops over the course of 6 weeks spanning various aspects of early stage investment education. Workshops will be live, recorded for viewing later, and followed up with Q&A.
Foundations of Venture Investing
These sessions are led by Laconia’s team, providing detailed insight into our own investment approach. Below are overviews of the topics to be covered.
Establishing VC fundamentals
Defining an investment strategy & sourcing deals
Conducting due diligence & leading deals
Managing and supporting a portfolio
Running a venture capital fund
Becoming an investor, within & beyond traditional structures
Expert-Led Sector Sessions
VOs/VFs will have the opportunity to lead a session, dependent on expertise, interest, and availability. We anticipate having one session per quarter.
Guest Speakers & AMAs
We will host numerous sessions with guest speakers. Participants will also have access to the recordings of prior sessions. Prior speakers include Beezer Clarkson (Sapphire Partners), Lolita Taub (Stealth-mode GP), Cheryl Campos (Republic), Simeon Iheagwam (NOEMIS Ventures), and Meha Patel (645 Ventures), among others.
Laconia Engagement & Transparency
In addition to the workshops, VOs and VFs will receive the opportunity to shadow our investment processes. We will also curate a number of live, off-the-record sessions that provide additional transparency into our investment process:
Individualized Engagement
A Laconia pipeline, due diligence, and portfolio review session, providing visibility into our investment process and fund performance
Small group office hours sessions allowing more active engagement
1x1 match-making among participants to facilitate network growth
Ongoing startup pitches & due diligence sessions
LP Involvement
We have waived our investment minimum for VOs and VFs. As Limited Partners in the fund, they are welcome to Laconia’s annual meetings, investor & portfolio events/dinners, and any other official fund business.
